Pattern Project
Photoshop mockup displaying my pattern as well as the logos and other elements I created to go with it.
Sketches and other notes from the planning process.
STCC // GAT-225 - Assignment 1
Through this project, I learned more about digital illustration while creating seamless patterns and applying them to physical packaging using PSD mockups.
The goal of this project was to create a pattern that could be applied in other contexts, such as packaging, wallpaper, or really anywhere with space to fill. I enjoy digital illustration, so I really wanted to incorporate that into this project. I started with sketches (shown above!), found the mockup I intended to use, and then moved on to creating the motifs and eventually, the completed design. The biggest challenge for me was ensuring that it was seamless when repeated across a canvas!
I also created a simple logo so the products would appear real in the mockup, as well as a copy of the full design using a different but complementary color theme.
The software I used was mainly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Fresco, with Photoshop for some final tweaks.
Here’s an in-progress screenshot from the building process.
And here’s the final pattern!
